A strategic marketer and Sustainable Marketing consultant. Co-Founder, Director and Podcast Host at Can Marketing Save the Planet Ltd, a company on a mission to support responsible marketing through educating and supporting the approximate 10.6M Marketers on the planet.

Certified Carbon Literate Trainer, together with Gemma, created the first Carbon Literacy for Marketers training programme. And as Course Director at CIM, she has developed a number of open training programmes for the institute focused on sustainable marketing.

A 6x published author (4x in the digital marketing arena and 2x in Sustainable Marketing).

In 2022, awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to Marketing’ for driving sustainable marketing transformation.And in 2024, awarded Highly Commended, for Changemaker of the Year Award.

Michelle was also recognised as one of the UK’s Top 100 Inspirational Businesswomen in 2021. Prior to her focus on sustainability, Michelle worked providing strategic consulting and delivering communications and engagement projects aligned with digital transformation programmes.

She has decades of experience working across the digital marketing and digital transformation arena, consulting and supporting growth and digital transformation programs. A former Director at Made Simple Group, she supported the business from inception to growth, to sale. In 2002, she founded digital agency Carvill Creative - and to date still leads a focused team helping organisations develop a strong digital presence via robust (and highly human) strategic marketing strategies.

Michelle is Founder and Co-Director at The Preventative Healthcare Service. A community interest company focused on supporting preventative healthcare, and helping people to learn how to take care of themselves via effective stress management programs and wellbeing techniques aligned with breath work, movement, nutrition, sleep health and relaxation. She is also a Yoga Alliance Senior Yoga teacher with over 30 years of experience in various yoga modalities, and 15 years yoga teaching and over 500 hours of yoga and transpersonal training.

Gemma is a strategic marketer and sustainability advocate, dedicated to proving that business and marketing can be powerful forces for positive change. With a career spanning brand strategy, integrated communications, and sustainable business transformation, she combines creativity with purpose to drive meaningful impact - for people, planet and profit.

Gemma is co-host on the podcast Can Marketing Save the Planet?, a two-time published author, and Carbon Literate. Her efforts have seen her awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to Marketing’ in 2022 for driving sustainable marketing transformation. And in 2024, awarded Highly Commended, for Changemaker of the Year Award. She is also an advisor on the team at 30X30 the UK’s biggest nature recovery movement.

Gemma’s experience spans sustainable marketing and brand strategy where she has worked with organisations developing purpose-driven narratives that engage audiences and inspire action. She enjoys working with brands and stakeholders on transformational shifts toward responsible practices and integrated campaigns and storytelling which drive performance and impact.

Previously, as Marketing Director at the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Gemma led initiatives to educate marketers and shape industry standards. She spearheaded brand strategy and high-impact campaigns across PR, content and marketing while fostering team capability and cross-functional leadership. She developed the first regulated qualification in Sustainable Marketing and also teaches CIM qualifications at Level 4 and 6.

Her professional background also includes product and commercial leadership at Sony where she worked between Tokyo and the UK on product development and propositions, managed product lifecycles, market positioning, and retail strategy across multiple tech categories. Chief Community Officer at WeAre8 a social media platform dedicated to advancing ethical social media and sustainable ad platforms, Gemma worked on the citizen strategy.
