Carbon Literacy

Human solutions to human challenges

Are you interested, intrigued or feeling overwhelmed by climate change but unsure where to start? Would you like to make a real difference both at work and in your personal life? Our Carbon Literacy courses are practical, engaging and designed for marketers, communications professionals, organisations and agencies who want to do real things.

What is Carbon Literacy?

Carbon Literacy means understanding the carbon costs of everyday actions - from your morning coffee to your commute and your employee engagement to how you differentiate yourself through your communications. Knowing how to make smarter, more informed choices which lower your carbon impacts and support your organisations sustainability agenda is fast becoming a critical part of our working skillset.

Why should you care?

We all have a responsibility when it comes to protecting the planet we live on and every role has sustainability in it, whether you realise it or not.

What’s in it for organisations?

Carbon Literacy is highly effective in many ways:

  • Cutting costs and carbon – you’ll learn how reducing emissions often means reducing waste, increasing efficiencies, cost savings and greater performance.

  • You are effectively future-proofing your business – customers, employees, and investors are demanding sustainability, so becoming Carbon Literate is a step towards making your organisation sustainable over the long-term.

  • It’s a great way to bring together and engage your teams – empowering them with knowledge they can use at work and home.

  • You’ll stand out – Carbon Literacy is more than just a course, it’s a Certification which shows you’re serious about climate action.

What’s in it for individuals?

Take control and become part of the solution:

  • You’ll learn practical steps to shrink your carbon footprint and add value to the organisations you work for.

  • A certification and a highly sort after skillset.

  • Boost your career - sustainability skills are in demand across every industry, your Carbon Literacy skills go with you wherever you choose to work.

  • Lead by example - confidence to talk about climate, inspire friends, family and colleagues to take action too.

  • Lower your footprint – we all need to be thinking more about how we live, travel, eat and use energy.

What’s in the training?

We don’t do jargon-filled lectures. Our virtual and online deliveries are interactive, relatable, and filled with discussion. We’ll cover:

  • The big picture - how carbon emissions drive climate change (and why it matters to you).

  • Your carbon footprint – you’ll see the impact of daily choices both in your personal life and at work (some surprises guaranteed!).

  • The output is real solutions – as part of the certification you’ll commit to one personal action and one group action based on your role*, something you can take forward and make a difference. We’ll ensure you leave with a clear idea of what you can do next.

*your action can be applied to another area of your life if you cannot directly make an impact in your role. We will work with you on this on an individual basis.

Who’s it for?

Everyone! Whilst we specialise in Carbon Literacy for marketing and communications professionals (individuals and teams), we’ve also trained cross-functional teams within organisations and agencies. Whether you’re a CEO, marketer, sustainability lead, administrator or HR professional, this isn’t just for environmental, green or sustainability teams, climate responsibility sits with all of us.

What people are saying…

  • "Sustainability can be quite technical, it can be quite murky and this was very clear – the whole curriculum and all of the stimulus was really well designed, overall, the clarity was really appreciated.”

  • “Having knowledge in the sustainability space, the online training was a great mix of media – sometimes you can listen, sometimes you can read, sometimes you can watch. It was all very user friendly – and each module felt like it was just the right length.”

  • “The training really helped us to think above and beyond the things we are already doing – opened our minds to what else we could be doing.”
